The Professional Hockey Players' Association represents professional players in the American Hockey League and the ECHL: the leagues one and two steps below the NHL, where most careers in this sport are actually spent.
They are an association of people who know exactly what it costs a family to get a child to the point where hockey is possible, because most of them lived it.

The PHPA is a Pilot Sponsor. They supply prizes and merchandise for our camps, which sounds minor until you watch the last hour of day four. A child who has never owned anything with a hockey logo on it going home with something is not a small moment.
Thank you. A pilot sponsor backs something before it has a track record, which is a harder thing to do than backing something that already works. You did it when we were nine children and a borrowed hour of ice. We have not forgotten which order that happened in.
