Apply for a camp
Every Open Ice camp is free. There is no fee, no equipment cost, and no catch. Here is who we serve and how a family applies.

Who can apply
- Age: five to ten at the start of the session, and only five to ten. This is a beginner programme and every part of it is built for that range
- Availability: the child must be able to attend the full session
- Residency: the child must live in the City of Toronto, or a directly adjacent municipality with documented barriers to access
Most of our campers have never played organised hockey. Many have never laced up skates. That is who this programme is built for. No experience is needed and none is expected.
How spots are allocated
We do not run first come first served. When more families apply than there are spots, we rank applicants using our own selection system, which draws in part on Toronto District School Board Learning Opportunities Index data and the City of Toronto Neighbourhood Improvement Areas. Priority goes to the highest need communities: Regent Park, St. James Town, Thorncliffe Park, Flemingdon Park, Oakridge.
What happens after you apply
- You fill in the form below. It takes about four minutes on a phone and there is nothing to print
- We reply within about three days, whether the answer is yes or no
- If there is a place we send the registration form and the waiver to complete and return
- We confirm the spot, check the sizes, and give you the arrival details
Answer both and we will tell you straight away.
The form
Fill this in on your phone. It takes about four minutes and there is nothing to print, nothing to download and nothing to pay.
Almost. Press send and it is done.
We could not send that for you automatically, so we have written the email instead. Everything you typed is already in it. Nothing has been lost.
If the button does nothing, your device has no email app set up. Copy the text below and send it from wherever you read your email, to andrew.adair@ucc.on.ca.
Tap or click the box to select all of it.
That is in.
Your application is with Andrew Adair, who reads every one of them himself.
- Within three days you will get a reply from andrew.adair@ucc.on.ca. Check your junk folder if it is quiet.
- If there is a place we will send the registration form and the waiver, and ask for your child's sizes if you did not give them.
- If this camp is full we will tell you plainly and hold your application for the next one. We run six camps a year.
- You will never be asked for money. Not for the camp, not for the equipment, not for lunch. If anybody asks you for a payment, it is not us.
If you would rather use the forms
Some families prefer paper, and some schools ask for it. Both routes reach the same person and neither is faster than the other.
Applying costs nothing and always will. If you are here to help rather than to apply, a donation goes straight to ice and gear.
Prefer to talk it through? Call 437-775-6292 or email andrew.adair@ucc.on.ca. If English is not your first language, write to us in whatever language is easiest and we will work it out.
